Krabi: Luxury Café Fire Causes Over 15 Million Baht in Damages

On July 17, 2024, a severe fire broke out at the luxurious Dragon Hill Café, located on a hill in Ban Koh Kwang, Moo 3, Nong Thale Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. The intense flames completely engulfed the central part of the café as well as the kitchen on the lower floor.

The fire started near dawn during a heavy storm with strong winds. It is suspected that a falling tree branch may have struck an electrical wire, causing it to break and spark the fire. The café's wooden décor further fueled the blaze.

At the time of the incident, Sorosak Bannop, a 20-year-old employee, was sleeping in the café with a friend. They woke up to the smoke and flames but managed to escape unharmed. Initial investigations suggest an electrical short circuit might be the cause, but forensic police will conduct a thorough investigation. The estimated damage exceeds 15 million baht.

Sorosak recounted that he and his friend were asleep in a room at the back of the café. When he woke up to use the bathroom, he noticed the smoke and then saw the fire spreading rapidly. He quickly grabbed his phone and exited the room to safety.
