Koh Panyee is located in the Koh Panyee Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phang Nga Province. The name "Panyee" comes from the Indonesian word for "flag." Historically, three families from Java or Indonesia, including a leader named "Toh Nabu," migrated in search of a new livelihood. They agreed that whoever found a fertile place to settle would plant a flag, which is how Koh Panyee got its name.

A key highlight of Koh Panyee is the floating football field, the only one of its kind in Thailand, which has become a globally renowned symbol of tourism for the island.

The best time to visit Koh Panyee is between December and April each year.
